Film review
Released February 24, 2017, the film “Get Out”, is a film concentrated on the main character Chris Washington, (played by Daniel Kaluuya). The film is about Chris and his girlfriend Rose Armitage, played by Allison Williams. It is a “modern day” era film, which is concentrated on black stereotypes. This story is a loose representation of how some groups of white people view black people. The film last 104 minutes long, and is was written and directed by Jordan Peele, a first time director.
The film begins in Chris’s apartment where him and his girlfriend Rose are discussing a weekend they had planned to visit Rose’s parents. They eventually travel to Rose’s parents house. There are no points of racism early in the film, as the family is attempting to trick Chris into believing that he is welcome.
The family seems to almost to nice to Chris, as he later notices that all of the maids and yard workers in the house are black. That’s when his suspicion starts to spark, he starts to get stressed out and is constantly telling Rose that he doesn't like what is going on in the house.
Rose’s family throws a party while Chris is staying with them, during the party, Rose introduces him to all of the guests that are there. What you don’t know at this part, is that they are showing chris off to be auctioned to the people attending the party. This is both a violation of Article 1, the right to innate freedom and equality and Article 4, ban on slavery. This is a violation of his equality, because he is clearly not shown as equal to the people trying to bid on him. This is also a violation of of the ban on slavery for obvious reasons, they are trying to sell him off as a slave.
One night, as Chris is walking down the stairs going to smoke, Rose’s mother sees him, and calls him over. Chris hesitantly walks over, and her mother explains that she can brainwash him to quit smoking, and he agrees. He later realises after being brainwashed, that he was deceived by her mother, and now he is controlled by her. This was done to allow her to show him off to other people trying to buy him, and to allow and to make sure he wouldn’t escape. This a violation of Article 5, ban on torture. This is because he was unknowingly brainwashed into being controlled by somebody else, without consent of it.
Chris later realises he has to escape, and when he alarms Rose of this, she pretends to be concerned and helps him. Yet to Chris’s surprise, she is also trying to keep him at the house, and tricks him into the basement where he is knocked out, and strapt into a chair. Another violation of article 5.
Chris is later sold to an old famous photographer, Jim Hudson, played by Stephen Root. They continue to keep Chris in the basement, and attempt to brainwash him again. Another violation of article 5. Chris waits for his chance to escape, and kills the entire family in a massive fight scene. Even though in the movie this looks like the right thing to do, this is a violation of Article 3, because of how he murders them.
Overall, the movie “Get Out” is a fantastic movie, it showcases both the racism, and torture that group of white people instill upon other ethnicities, especially black people. It uses a great story line that always keeps you on the end of your seat and excited to see what will happen next. It may seem unrealistic

I have chosen this agency because they work to allow people to think for them self. In this novel, the main idea revolves mainly around human rights and how the government violates the society's human rights, by burning their books and forcing them to a different way of life of technology rather than written books. They placed a ban on all books, and send the “firefighters” to set fire to all books that are reported and or discovered. The main components that this novel violates are the articles 2, 12, 18 which are, the right to life, the right to privacy, and the right to thought. These relate to me to we because of how they allow 3rd world countries to think for them self by building schools. They could help the issue in the novel by fighting for the ability to read books, and allow people to learn and think differently from the cookie cutter, basic system that the government has placed on society. You can clearly see that the quality of life that is installed on the people of this society is extremely low. The people seem to be depressed and displeased with the life that they are living, similar to what is like in the countries that Me to We help.
These quotes show how some people in this society feel about what is going on and how they are being pushed into this basic system.
“Stuff your eyes with wonder, he said, live as if you'd drop dead in ten seconds. See the world. It's more fantastic than any dream made or paid for in factories.” This shows that there is so much more than what they are showing the people in society.
“We need not to be let alone. We need to be really bothered once in awhile. How long is it since you were really bothered? About something important, about something real?”
This also shows how the people in the society are fed up with not being able to think how they want to.
